Ethics and Transparency statement.

The work at Kelly Swingler Ltd, and at Burnoutology is founded on lived experience, emerging science, and professional integrity.

We believe that coaching must evolve to meet the real needs of clients facing Burnout, and that starts with truth, not trend.

Our work is guided by the following principles:

1. We do not diagnose or treat Burnout as a medical condition.

While we speak openly about the cognitive, emotional, and physiological impacts of Burnout, Burnoutology does not offer clinical or therapeutic services. We train coaches, leaders and teams to recognise signs, reduce harm, and refer responsibly—never to diagnose or ‘fix.’

2. Our approach is grounded in lived experience, existing evidence, and evolving research.

Kelly has coached over 700 leaders through Burnout, experienced two severe Burnout episodes herself, and she’s actively pursuing PhD-level research into the neurological and trait-based impacts of Burnout. Her teaching and that delivered by the team reflects the best available understanding from neuroscience, trauma studies, somatic psychology, and professional practice.

3. We acknowledge the limits of current science - and challenge them.

Burnout is often misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or minimised. Burnoutology exists to push the conversation forward. While here at Burnoutology we use phrases like “Burnout-Informed” and “nervous-system aware” we are clear about what we can currently claim—and where research is still emerging.

4. This is a movement, not just a methodology.

We are building the first coaching discipline intentionally designed around the neurological, psychological, and identity-level consequences of Burnout. While others offer CPD, we are committed to reshaping how coaching is taught, practiced, and measured.

5. I/We hold ourselves to high ethical standards.

All coaches trained through Burnoutology are expected to work within scope, operate transparently, and centre the safety, dignity, and autonomy of their clients.

We’re not just here to help people recover, we’re here to make sure the systems they return to don’t lead to Burnout all over again.
